The EU's Digital Decade programme is a guiding policy instrument for Europe’s digital transformation. Since 2023, the European Commission has report progress against the Digital Decade’s ambitious targets and KPIs, covering connectivity, cloud, digital skills, AI, and the digitisation of public services.

Progress towards these targets has however been mixed; the 2025 State of the Digital Decade report highlights the need for acceleration to meet the 2030 goals. Alongside, the European Commission has kicked off a midterm review of the Digital Decade, assessing its fitness for purpose in a changed technological and political landscape.

This event will assess progress to date and examine whether the objectives adopted in only several years ago remain aligned with the needs of European public administrations, businesses and citizens in time of fast-paced change. Our discussion will also examine practical steps to turn the 2030 targets from aspirations into reality and consider how the targets can interact positively with each other, supporting European digital transformation for 2030 and beyond.
