ABOUT

Gianpiero Lotito is Founder, with Mariuccia Teroni, and CEO of FacilityLive: the Italian digital scaleup that global media define as “The European Search Platform”. Since December 2018 he has also been President of the European Tech Alliance (EUTA): the alliance that brings together and gives a voice to the major European digital champions, scaleups and leading startups.

Gianpiero is a technologist and an innovative entrepreneur who since 1987 has been working on pioneering projects in the publishing industry, applying digital technologies to contents, and now to cultural heritage too.

He was Adjunct Professor of Multimedia Publishing at the University of Milan (2001-2006) and Adjunct Professor at the Master in Digital Innovation and Entrepreneurship of the University of Pavia in collaboration with FacilityLive (2017-2019). He is now Adjunct Professor of Digital Ecosystems at the University of Pavia.

He has written several books and articles on technology for publishers such as Bruno Mondadori, Sperling and the Espresso Group, among others.

In 2015 he received the Gold Medal of the city of Pavia for his contribution to the technological innovation of the area and for having decided, in 2013, not to move FacilityLive to Silicon Valley after obtaining patents (at the time) in 39 countries of the world, thus keeping the company where it was born.

In 2016 he was the innovative entrepreneur chosen by the Ministry for Economic Development to accompany the Minister in representation of Italy at the Informal Meeting of Competitiveness Ministers organised by the Dutch Presidency of the European Union.

After more than 20 years, in 2018, he became the first Italian non-politician invited to give a speech at the United Nations (UN) General Assembly in New York, in occasion of the International Non-Violence Day. He gave a speech entitled “Technology and Peace”.

He has been Ambassador of three major EU campaigns launched by the European Commission, including the #EUvsVirus pan-European Hackathon in 2020.

Thanks to his innovative vision, he is often invited as a speaker at prestigious international events and he is often interviewed by prestigious global media such as: BBC World News, CNN, Süddeutsche Zeitung, Daily Telegraph, CNBC Global, SKY News, Bloomberg TV, France 24, Franceinfo, RAI, Mediaset, POLITICO, Huffington Post UK, Corriere della Sera, Repubblica.
