Serial entrepreneur and former professor of information systems, network services and security. Founder of I.NET, the first Italian Internet Provider. He was a member of parliament in the 17th legislature. He is Chairman of the Steering Committee of the Agency for Digital Italy, member of the High Level Expert Group on Artificial Intelligence of the European Commission, member of the Steering Committee of the Sustainable Development Solutions Network, Chairman of the Advisory Group on Advanced Technologies for Trade and Transport for UN/CEFACT.

He was a memeber of the high level expert group on AI of the European Commission. The group ended its activity last July.
