Ulrich Wilhelm (born in 1961) is since 2011 Director General of Bayerischer Rundfunk (Bavarian Broadcasting, BR). He represents the German public broadcasters in the Executive Board of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU).

Since taking office as Director General of BR, he has been driving forward an innovative change process. By gradually merging editorial teams from its radio, television and online sections BR is evolving into a multi-media organization with a view to provide high-quality audio and video content, distributed across all communication channels available.

The Munich-native is a journalist and lawyer. He studied amongst others at the German School of Journalism in Munich and was a Congressional Fellow at the US Congress in Washington D. C.. In 1991 he took up governmental work and held various positions in the Bavarian administration. Wilhelm became Head of the Press and Information Office of the German Federal Government and government spokesman in November 2005.
