As negotiations on the digital euro continue in the European Parliament, the European Internet Forum convened policymakers, regulators and industry representatives for a breakfast debate at the European Parliament on 15 April 2026.
The discussion examined the key elements of the digital euro negotiations and the features that will determine its success and public acceptance. Participants also explored the broader implications for the European payments market, where private sector solutions are already developing interoperable sovereign payment infrastructures in parallel.
