Online scams have become one of the fastest-growing crimes worldwide. They cross borders, exploit new technologies, and overwhelm existing enforcement systems. MEP and EP staffers had the chance to learn how criminals leverage AI fueled by a near-unlimited pool of illegally available personal data to instantly create hyper-personalized fraud.
This session dove into how scams are crafted and undermine trust in public and private digital services, threatening both EU consumers and economies, while illicit profits serve to finance criminal networks.
