Last April the OECD published a small paper titled ”Using Artificial Intelligence to help combat COVID-19”. STOA has been also investigating the application of AI in light of the current situation. Unfortunately at present the current generation of AI seems not to have been able to fulfil all its promises as many had hoped. The supercomputing race looks more and more the solution to empower a new generation of AI with a potential upon which not just the scientific Community is speculating. AI and supercomputing have undoubtedly become a geopolitical matter.
This EIF event shall take stock of what it is happening at global level and investigate what Europe is doing vis-a-vis its international trade partners to secure its place as a leader in the this geopolitical tech race.
